Art Tales 

Feb. 1st 

Wednesday, February 1st at 10-10:30 AM & 2-2:30 PM - Enjoy a book reading followed by an art activity. Geared for ages 3-5 and their grown-ups.Free and open to the public! See more at:

 Star Party

 Feb. 3rd

JOIN THE WEST TEXAS ASTRONOMERS in Haley Park, behind the Marian Blakemore Planetarium in Midland, for an up-close view of the stars in the night sky.  Parties begin at dusk and generally occur one Friday a month, except in summer. Free and open to the public. See more at:

 Take Me Fishing

Feb. 4th 

The Annual Take Me Fishing event at Comanche Trail Park Pond is Saturday, February 4 from 10am-2pm. There will be free door prizes and lots of fun for all ages. No Registration required, Free event for the community. See more at:

Take Your Child to the Library Day 

Feb. 4th 

Stop by the Centennial and Downtown Libraries on Saturday, February 4th, 2017 for Take Your Child to the Library Day! This is a fantastic opportunity to bring a young person to the library (especially if it’s their first time!) to get their first library card and learn all about everything that Midland County Public Libraries have to offer. We'll have crafts, a family scavenger hunt, special displays, movies at 2:00pm, and more! The first 100 participants at each location will receive a special book bag.

 Little Sweethearts Dance

 Feb. 4th

Dress your best and join us for a Daddy/Daughter, Mother/Son, Guardian/Child Dance! We’ll have a “sweet” time with light refreshments, dancing, pictures, and games. Tickets:  $20 per couple / Additional children $5 each - Tickets will be sold at the Midland YMCA Member Service desk from January 30th to February 3rd. NO DAY OF SALES. Little Sweethearts Dance will be held at the Midland YMCA from 7pm - 9pm on February 4th. 

 2R's Valentine's Vendors & Craft Event

Feb. 4th 

Gifts for your Valentine... 2R's Valentine's Vendors & Craft Event will be held on February 4th from 10am - 5pm at the Ector County Coliseum in Barn D. Come out and shop with over 50 local vendors. Free Admission, Door prizes every 30 minutes. Email for more information.

Sweetheart Run 5K

Feb. 11th

Back by popular demand! The best way to start your weekend with your sweetheart is to get the blood pumping at the Sweetheart 5K Run! Bring the whole family, or just your sweetheart for this fitness fun event at Comanche Trail Park (West). This fun run will take place on Saturday, February 11th and will include music, fun, and goodies from Neighbors ER of Odessa. See more at:

Join us for a special guest storytime with Sibley Nature Center at the Centennial Library! We'll learn about the night sky, read stories, and more. Tuesday, February 14 at 10am - 11am at the Midland Centennial and Downtown Libraries.

Gigantic Pancake Jamboree & Blood Drive

Feb. 25th 

Midland Downtown Lions Club 61st GIGANTIC PANCAKE JAMBOREE AND BLOOD DRIVE will be held on Saturday, February 25th from 7 am to 5 pm at the Midland Downtown Lions Center.  $7.00 per plate  (Pancakes, sausage and drink)


Feb. 27th 

We hope you can join us for the 31st annual Shrimpfest, the Museum's largest fundraiser of the year! Enjoy a cajun style celebration with unlimited shrimp, drinks, dancing, and auction! By purchasing a ticket or table, you are helping us to schedule diverse exhibitions, enhance educational programming and provide free community events! General Admission tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door and include entry beginning at 7:00 PM, unlimited food and two drink tickets. Sponsorship tables are also available. See more at:
