Held at the Museum of the Southwest in Midland: THEY'RE SO BAD, they're actually good. SciFridays in 2016 explore the classic movies you love to hate. Bring your friends and don't be late - films begin at 8 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m. SciFridays are free and open to the public, but please note film ratings and be cautious when bringing young children.  Summer Sunday Lawn Concerts - WEATHERSTONE

Hosted at the Museum of the Southwest: Grab a blanket, lawn chair and friends and join us on the front lawn of the historic Turner Mansion. Free concerts are provided throughout the summer on the following Sunday evenings and feature a variety of music from bands with local roots. Concerts run from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and guests are welcome to come early to get the party started!

Family Fridays:  Stupendous Science with Basin PBS

June 10 

Hosted at the Museum of the Southwest: Gather the whole family and enjoy educational, fun activities based on themes that foster creativity and a love of learning. Sessions are designed for children ages 4 through 12 years old; though the whole family is encouraged to join in on the merriment as a variety of activities will be offered simultaneously. All Family Friday “come and go” sessions are held in the Blakemore Planetarium’s Brown Science Center, located on the Museum grounds, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are free with paid admission or Museum membership.

Mex-Tex Family Fiesta 

June 10-11 

Mex-Tex Family Fiesta will be held June 10-11 at the Scharbauer Sports Complex in Midland. Performers are Noel Olivas & the Benders, Flatland Cavalry, Mike Ryan, Las Fenix, David Olivarez, La Fiebre, Lucky Joe, DJ Kane & Ricky Rick, & Siggno. 2016 Summer Season will have more of the best movies around. 8 movies, 8 nights, for free!  Cannot beat that anywhere! So pack up the kids, lawn chairs and blankets and head to your neighborhood Park. "Classic Movie Night!" One movie out of the series will be dedicated to the classics!  Cartoons will begin around 8:45 p.m. and concessions will be available.  The movies are scheduled to begin at dark.

Sore Heads Trade Days 

June 11-12 

Old Sorehead Trade Days is the best little show in West Texas (if you can call 615 booths and 30,000 visitors "little"). Stanton hosts Trade Days three times a year, six days of wonderful shopping. Shows are scheduled the second weekend in April, June and October. Shows are Saturdays 9 AM to 6 PM and Sundays Noon to 5 PM. See more at: http://www.stantontex.com/

 Discover the Dinosaurs - Ector County Coliseum

 June 18

Each Discover the Dinosaurs scene showcases dinosaurs in the period of time that reflects when the dinosaurs lived. Engaging the senses, each scene includes static and animatronic dinosaurs surrounded by lighting, sound effects and fog. Pick up a scavenger hunt at the entrance to track the dinosaurs throughout the exhibit!
