Let's celebrate the 43rd Annual Permian Basin fair and Expo!  Tons of fun awaits the entire family: rides, food, talents shows, roaming performers, petting zoos and so much more! Beginning August 31-September 9th, located at Ector County Coliseum Fairgrounds

Building Bots

Building Bots enables children to engage in engineering challenges, team building, and robotic creative design. With different themes for each session, your child will love coming to every session! Open to students in grades K-6th.  Kindergarten – 2nd Grade (First Tuesdays) from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.  Held in the Robotics & Engineering Fun Lab at the Petroleum Museum. Join us in celebrating whimsy and wonder at the 49th annual SeptemberFest, the weekend of September 7-9 at the Museum of the Southwest. A long-standing and beloved community tradition, the three-day arts festival also serves as a major fundraiser for the Museum. Setting the tone for the weekend, the Friday night Preview Party returns this year to the historic Turner Mansion, and festivities continue under the Big Top on the front lawn surrounded by artists’ booths. Enjoy an elegant plated dinner or a delicious buffet along with cocktails, a silent auction and first view of the art work. The fun continues Saturday and Sunday with food and drink vendors, artists’ booths, KinderFest crafts and games, live entertainment, bounce houses and more. Nature Club is designed for students K-3rd to learn all the different ways they can enjoy the outdoors of West Texas while encouraging curiosity and nurturing the understanding that the natural world has intrinsic value through outdoor exploration, games, experiments, and up-close animal encounters.  Our next Nature Club meeting will be on Saturday, September8th from 10 am – 12 pm!  We will be “Mad Scientists” using the scientific method throughout a series of hands-on experiments!

Bees are busy little critters! Did you know honey bees are really good dancers? To share information about a good food source, worker bees will perform their "waggle dance" to tell the other worker bees just where they found the delicious flower! Join us on Tuesday, September 11 at 10am for fun activities, songs, and crafts all about bees!  Tales & Trails is a program for preschool children and their caregivers to join Sibley, Midland County Public Library Staff and Volunteers for an interactive one hour story time.

Families are invited to participate in hands-on science activities including science experiments and creative projects.  Relay for Life

Permian Basin

Come join CNB and the American Cancer Society at a Relay For Life on Saturday, September 15th.  The event will be held at Mid Cities church, located at 8700 State Hwy 191, from 4pm-10pm in celebration of hope and remembrance of those we have lost to cancer. There will be music, games, and food for all ages.  Fundraisers will take place during the event.

Diez y Seis de Septiembre Parade

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Midland hosts the annual Diez y Seis de Septiembre (16th of September) Parade, which follows a course down Lamesa Rd and Florida St. From 10am-12pm The parade features floats from local businesses and presentations from Mariachi "Nueva Generacion" and HCCMidland's Ballet Folklorico and Flamenco dance groups.  See more info at http://www.hccmidland.org

CNB is proud to sponsor the CAF High Sky Wing AirSho.  Join us on Saturday, September 15th.  AirSho is held annually at the Midland International Air & Space Port located between Midland & Odessa, TX. The AIRSHO is a family friendly community event. We are pleased to have the B-29 "Doc" in attendance, one of only two flying in the world. Other performances will be the Vietnam Salute, A-10 Demo Team and many other exciting vintage aircraft along with high energy civilian aerobatics. Ecology of Milkweed: On Friday, September 21, 2018 from noon-1:00 PM there will be a Brown Bag Presentation by Dr. Shaun McCoshum on the ecology of milkweed. Shaun travels extensively and is in great demand as an expert in botany, zoology, entomology, pollination biology, and ecology. St. Ann’s Fair is the biggest one-day event in Midland each year.  General Admission is free, with all proceeds benefiting St. Ann’s School and Parish.  The Fair features fun and entertainment for all ages with over 65 food and game booths including Smoke Free Bingo, face painting, games for kids, and the famous Odds & Ends Garage Sale booth. See more info at  http://www.stannsfair.org/

Arthropod Adventures for Adults: The arthropods are the most numerous and diverse animal groups which includes insects, spiders, crustaceans, and their kin.  More than 80% of all animal life on Earth is some type of arthropod.  Bug Camp for Adults is a one day/evening encounter with the animals possessing many sets of jointed legs.  Topics will include, but not be limited to arthropod and insect taxonomy and the use of dichotomous keys, insect anatomy and physiology, insect behavior and ecology, insect/human relations, and nocturnal entomology.  No insects or other arthropods will be harmed or permanently collected as the camp’s emphasis is on the living organism as a part of the environment.  This is a one Saturday event on September 29, 2018 from 3:00-9:00 P.M.  A meal will be provided.  See more info at https://sibleynaturecenter.org/events/arthropod-adventures-for-adults-2
